Ken Mirr’s career has always been guided by a deep curiosity and a passion for the land – both literally and figuratively. Inspired by the maps that filled his childhood basement, Ken’s fascination with the landscapes of the American West led him from teaching to law school, then to a career navigating the complex world of land use, public-private land transactions, and conservation. It was this unique combination of expertise, curiosity, and passion that laid the groundwork for the launch of Mirr Ranch Group in 2005, a firm rooted in both real estate and conservation.
Building Mirr Ranch Group wasn’t without its risks. From early deals and cold calls to weathering the Great Recession, Ken relied on his work ethic, integrity, and deep network to grow a company that set itself apart by championing legacy ranches and conservation values. Alongside trusted colleagues and early supporters, including real estate veteran Dudley Mitchell, Ken developed a brokerage that prioritized long-term value over quick wins – a philosophy that resonated with clients and colleagues alike. His leadership and vision helped elevate MRG from a small team to a nationally recognized firm with more than 20 team members.
Today, Mirr Ranch Group is a family business in every sense. Ken’s daughter, Haley, now plays a key leadership role, helping guide operations and marketing. The extended team includes long-standing brokers and staff who share a passion for the West and a commitment to doing meaningful work. With landmark sales like Trees Ranch and Wasatch Peaks under their belt, and a growing focus on international and conservation-oriented deals, MRG is looking ahead to its next 20 years with the same curiosity and conviction that launched it in the first place – still guided by maps, and still forging new paths.
